Welcome to BiasWatchArchaeo. The goal of this site is to track the speaker composition of conferences in archaeology, particularly with respect to gender representation. This site is inspired by BiasWatchNeuro and the editorial in Nature about this initiative, titled "Women need to be seen and heard at conferences". UK Archaeological Science conference 2017

2017 UK Archaeological Science conference

Organizers: UCL’s Institute of Archaeology

Speaker gender ratio: 40 women : 22 men (182%)

Method of estimation: We inferred the gender ratios from a sample of 62 first-named speakers (all speakers that we could confidently infer gender from in the first 6 sessions in the program).
